League of Legends dominates EWC 2026 with record-breaking global engagement

The Esports World Cup 2026 reached new heights during its second week, generating more than 47.8 million hours watched. The figure doubled the opening week’s performance and marked a 34.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Major tournaments across League of Legends, Free Fire, Dota 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang helped drive the event’s growing global popularity.

League of Legends was the biggest attraction, producing 23.6 million hours watched, nearly half of the week's total. The tournament also peaked at more than 1.48 million concurrent viewers, making it the most watched event of this year's Esports World Cup. Although tournament favorites T1 and Gen.G did not reach the grand final, their highly anticipated third place clash still attracted massive audiences and helped surpass last year's viewership figures.

Free Fire also enjoyed a remarkable resurgence, recording over 804,000 peak viewers and 11.3 million hours watched, its strongest international performance in four years. Meanwhile, the MLBB Women's Invitational reached 565,000 peak viewers, becoming one of the most watched women's esports tournaments ever and showcasing the continued growth of female competition.

While Dota 2 experienced a 24% drop in peak viewership compared to last year, its extended tournament format still generated 15.9 million hours watched across the first two weeks, placing it second only to League of Legends. Following two weeks of competition, T1 emerged as the Esports World Cup's most watched organization, surpassing 10 million hours watched thanks largely to its hugely popular League of Legends roster.
