Esports World Cup 2026: A new chapter begins in the heart of France

The biggest esports event on the planet is changing its address. The Esports World Cup 2026 will take place in Paris, France from July 6 to August 23, marking the first time the event is hosted outside Saudi Arabia.

The decision came amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with Riyadh and King Khalid International Airport repeatedly targeted by drone attacks throughout the winter and spring, forcing the Esports Foundation to accelerate its long-planned international rotation ahead of schedule.

French President Emmanuel Macron personally welcomed Esports Foundation CEO Ralf Reichert at the Palais Elysée to formalize the move, treating the occasion as a major international sporting milestone comparable to the Olympics or the World Cup.

The scale of the event remains untouched. Over 2,000 players representing more than 200 clubs from 100 countries will compete across 24 games and 25 tournaments, with a record-breaking prize pool exceeding $75 million.

All announced titles, tournaments and competitive formats remain unchanged, though minor schedule adjustments linked to the new host city, including broadcast timing adapted to European time zones, will be communicated in the coming days. Venue details will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
