BLG sweeps G2 to secure first playoff spot early

Bilibili Gaming made the loudest statement of the First Stand 2026 group stage on March 18, dismantling G2 Esports 3-0 in the Group A Upper Bracket Final to become the tournament's first confirmed playoff team. The LPL's top seed was relentless across all three maps, neutralizing G2's draft picks and suffocating every attempted comeback before it could develop.

BLG stole Shen away from G2 in Game 1 and controlled the map through sheer early-game pressure, while G2's Annie mid and Senna bot lane struggled to generate meaningful damage output. By Game 3, the result was no longer in doubt. BLG locked all key objectives, shut down the bot lane completely and closed without drama.

The match peaked at 649,046 concurrent viewers, making it one of the most-watched League of Legends matches of 2026 so far. The strong numbers reflect First Stand's compact format, where high-stakes matches arrive in week one rather than at the end of a lengthy group stage.

G2 now dropped to the lower bracket, where they needed to beat BNK FearX to survive. Support ON was named MVP of the series for his decisive map presence throughout. With BLG already through, all eyes shifted to whether Europe's flagship organization could recover. Spoiler: they couldn't stop BLG from lifting the trophy in São Paulo on March 22.
