LoL Worlds 2027 heads to South Korea with epic arenas

The first concrete details about the League of Legends World Championship 2027 have surfaced after an announcement from the Korea e-Sports Association. The tournament is tentatively scheduled to run from October 15 to November 14, 2027, with South Korea confirmed as the host nation.

KeSPA has opened a bidding process for municipalities interested in hosting the knockout stage, which includes the quarterfinals, semifinals, and grand final. Cities have until April 5, 2026 to submit proposals to stage the decisive portion of the competition.

The early plan outlines an 18-team tournament format. A Play-In phase is expected to precede a Swiss Stage that will determine which teams advance to the playoffs. These structural details may still evolve as planning continues with Riot Games.

Quarterfinals and semifinals go down in 5,000-8,000 seat arenas, while the grand final levels up to a 10,000+ capacity stadium.

Before that event arrives, the next global championship will be the 2026 Worlds in the United States, with the final taking place in New York City.
